1997, Pulse!, Blur

Pulse! is a free publication that was available at the Tower Records
rack as soon as you walk into the store. It was a bit oversized
magazine so the scanning may be off. I just selected a
number of pages that may be interested to readers of this blog.
Of course the Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie article is available on my
other blog Evenspot Speaks.

1989, Tom Petty - Full Moon Fever, cassette

Cassette Tuesday we talk about the 1989 debut of
Tom Petty "Full Moon Fever", cassette.

Now we all know Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers have been around
since '76. This is Tom's first solo although most of The Heartbreakers
were involved in the recordings. As well as Tom's super group
The Traveling Wilburys w/ a little help from his friends (see what I did there?)
George Harrison, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne.
The hit song was "Free Fallin'" (YouTube at bottom of this page).
This recording is good and all the songs I do like mostly on the first play.
You can't help but say it's a Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers only
difference to me is it seems a little softer not like his garage rock sound.
Producer by Tom Petty, Mike Campbell and Jeff Lynne who is an amazing musician
himself from E.L.O. is good but I can't help feel this recording sounds to clean w/ Jeff
as being the prominent producer.
