This Cassette Tuesday we w/ the 1988 controversial
Guns N' Roses "G N' R Lies", cassette
Even though "G N' R Lies" came out in '88 this includes
4 songs from their '86 EP "Live ?!*@ Like A Suicide"
which is Side 1 or as they labeled it Side G (1986).
Side G includes 2 cover tunes "Nice Boys" by Rose Tattoo
and "Mama Kin" by Aerosmith.
Side 2 labeled as Side R (1988) includes the hit single "Patience" (youtube
video at bottom of this page). "You're Crazy" actually appeared on the debut but this is
about a minute longer. "Used To Love Her" and "One In A Million" that includes the controversial lyrics.
My belief is that GnR put out "G N' R Lies" because their debut "Appetite for Destruction" came
out in '87. They needed something to keep the fans happy while Axl was thinking what to write next
and many members of Gn'R were so drugged out that made Axl so angry he even brought it up on stage during the tour. This is also the last album by drummer Steven Adler who Axl kicked out due to his drug habits and I think Axl was planning on kicking out a few more members during this time. So they put out this '88 EP w/ some new songs just to keep the fans happy. You have to consider this because their next and final release wouldn't be until 1991 "Use Your Illusions I and II".
